Use points earned when your gradebook shows your score directly. If each question is worth one point, you can instead enter questions missed. The calculator first finds earned points, then applies the same formula used by most gradebooks:
Percentage = (Points Earned / Total Points) × 100Letter grades are compared against the unrounded percentage. Decimal settings change only how the result is displayed, so a borderline score is not moved into a different band by early rounding.

The default scale below is a common convention, not a universal policy. Choose Custom Scale in the calculator when your teacher or syllabus uses different cutoffs.
For a specific result, the test score charts list every score on tests of each common size — including how many questions you can miss and still earn an A, B, C, or D on a 20-question, 50-question, or 100-question test.
