How to Use the College GPA Calculator

Enter each college course, choose the letter grade, and add the number of credits. The calculator converts each grade to quality points, multiplies by credits, and divides by the total credits to show your GPA.

Semester GPA vs. Cumulative GPA

For semester GPA, include only classes from the current term. For cumulative GPA, include every graded class that counts toward your transcript. If you already know your prior cumulative quality points, combine those with the new semester quality points before dividing by total credits.

College GPA Formula

GPA = Total Quality Points / Total Credit Hours

A 3-credit A is worth 12 quality points, while a 4-credit B is worth 12 quality points. Credit hours matter because a higher-credit course has a larger effect on your GPA.
