Your birthday month changes the answer

A birth year on its own is not quite enough. Most states require a child to have turned 5 by 1 September to start kindergarten that fall, so people born in 1985 split into two groups a full school year apart.

Born January – August 1985

Class of 2003

Everything below the fold uses the January–August timeline. If you were born late in the year, add one to every school year shown.
